I had that much needed chat with my mother after all. It was extremely refreshing. She told me the things that I had expected her to say. But despite that fact, I got a lot of encouragement from her words. She’s told me quite categorically that I need to take charge of my life and get on with it. “Enough depression,” she said, “now move on. He’s not the last guy on earth; neither is he only good guy around. Open the windows of
your heart and let some fresh air come in.” She told me of
her love for dad, how they met, how she had to make little compromises to make the relationship work. “A man wants an impossible amalgamation in his wife,” she told me, “you can achieve that only if you try to understand him.”
In retrospect, I think it’s time I got out of my cocoon and saw the silver lining. I’m determined to sail over and find a new life – I want to reinvent myself as the Emmie that I was – free-spirited, fun-loving, fiery. Such is life; you take a few things with a pinch of salt and move on. Sometimes it leaves a bad taste in the mouth but you can't really do anything about it. Friends, if
you're in love, do not change yourself. As I wrote in an earlier post,
love is a gamble, you win some, you lose some. Don’t lose heart… the grass is always greener on the other side! Stay tuned…
